Alexandrine- Psittacula eupatria X Ringneck - Psittacula krameri
CONTACT: IT HAS COME TO MY ATTENTION THAT THE EMAIL LINK WAS NOT WORKING THOUGH IT APPEARED TO! I APPOLOGIZE FOR THE INCONVENIENCE AND TO ANYONE WHO HAS WRITTEN AND NOT RECEIVED A RESPONSE.
My goal is to produce mutation colors, and thus more market interest, in the Alexandrine. They are terrific birds and make wonderful pets but at present, Alexandrines enjoy no enthusiastic market. There are a few naturally occurring mutation colors available in the Alexandrine. Mutation colors are quite expensive- in the range of $8,000.00 to $10,000.00 each- IF you can find them available to purchase. Usually they must be imported from Europe with all of the risk, time, hassle and expense that such a thing entails. Most breeders who want to raise Alexandrines will only be able to afford green birds. Unless…
THE ABILITY TO PRODUCE A MINIMUM OF 43 DIFFERENT COLOR POSSIBILITIES HAS ALREADY BEEN BRED INTO MY EXISTING ALEXANDRINE HYBRID FLOCK.
Included in the mutation color hybrids is a form of fallow available that creates a lime yellow (not ino) head on green birds along with mottled and sometimes “pearl” markings on the wings. I also have birds bearing a trait that creates pink cheeks on females (only on females thus far); this is especially nice on lutinos (imagine a bright yellow bird with a pink head). The hybrid birds are beautiful in their own right, and well suited for the pet market too. Individuals are vigorous, intelligent and active, they exhibit the best personality and physical traits of both the RN and the Alexandrine.
All of the first generation hybrid birds I offer for sale are either guaranteed to be split to blue (one blue parent) or are birds that are guaranteed to be either split to blue OR to turquoise (one single factor turquoise parent).
All of the males carry a 50% possibility of being split to either lacewing (father split to L.W.) or of being split to lutino AND OR to sex linked cinnamon (fathers were split to both sex linked traits).
Visual color mutation birds available in first generation hybrids include -
FEMALES:
Lutino
Cinnamon
Fallow
Double Fallow
Grey-green
MALES:
Fallow
Grey-green
These birds will pair up and breed successfully with Alexandrines, Ringnecks and other hybrids.
Second generation hybrids from first generation crossings with Alexandrines are nearly indistinguishable even to the discerning eye.
As always, knowledge from my 10 years of experience in these matters is offered only to people who purchase hybrids from me.
